Walk For Strays

Today was SICSA's annual Walk For Strays (YES... another dog walk!!). We were so happy that they had such a pretty day for the walk. It is one of their largest fundraisers and unfortunately, with the poor economy, their donations are down. If you are interested in donating to a very worthy cause, the link to SICSA's website is http://sicsa.org/

Just a few quotes I found on animal welfare...

Animals too, are created by the same loving hand of God which created us. It is our duty to protect them and to promote their well-being."—Mother Teresa

A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal."—Proverbs 12:10

"...And who gives food to every creature. His love endures forever."—Psalm 136:25

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God."—Luke 12:6

"It is just like man's vanity and impertinence to call an animal dumb because it is dumb to his dull perceptions."— Mark Twain

If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men. ~ St. Francis of Assisi Claire wearing her doggie hat!

Swinging before the walk started!

Getting ready to walk for strays!

On the homestretch!

Although it was a cool morning, Sophie still enjoyed taking a dip (and a drink!) after the walk!

Sophie visiting with an Italian Greyhound and two fellow retired racing Greyhounds!

Anna really liked this Italian Greyhound or a "little Greyhound" as Claire called her!

The police department had a really neat K9 demonstration. This German Shepherd was amazing!

We love to see all the different breeds and COLORS of dogs at the walk! Claire was in love with this pink poodle!

Of course we had to have a hot dog at the dog walk!

The cutest thing we saw all day was the three tiny doggies in the stroller! Both Claire & Anna were in doggie heaven today!

I love dogs! The other day I was watching Zaboomafoo with Bethany and they showed a fox who lives in the desert. This fox had fur on the bottom of his paws so he wouldn't burn his feet in the desert. Isn't it wonderful that we've got a God who cares so much about that fox that He made sure it wouldn't burn it's little feet!
